Now is a good time to look at Microsoft's kin. A major software update is expected out sooon, and now Verizon has cut prices on the Kin 1 and 2 phones. The Kin is now $29.99 with a 2-year contract. The Kin 2 now costs $49.99.

Previously, the Kin 1 was $29.99 and the Kin 2 was $99.99. This drop makes the Kin 2 especially attractive to cost-conscious potential smartphone customers. Big Red seems to think the entry-level “sweet spot” lies comfortably below the cost of a true smartphone.
