Here's a glimpse at the future. A German ISP named 1&1 is about to launch their own tablet. (SlashGear) This little gadget will be free with a data plan. It has a 7" touchscreen with b/g/n WiFi and the potential to use a USB 3G modem. It has its own app store and will come with an (optional) dock/speaker.

The SmartPad will run with a 500 MHz ARM11 processor with 256 MB of RAM and 1 GB of ROM. It will hit in July 2010.

While the SmartPad is only available in Germany, it won't be long before similar products start to launch around the world. There is a vast hunger for portable, speedy Internet/multi-media devices with a low cost. 1&1 may be the first ISP to try to cash in on this with a tablet, but they won't be the last. More details and photos of the SmartPad can be found here.
