IPWireless and Altair Semiconductor have unveiled what they claim is the first multi-band, multi-mode LTE modem in the industry. The new modem is suited to global deployments and can work in the 800MHz, 1800MHz, and 2.5GHz bands.

Future devices will also support the US bands of 700MHz and AWS frequency for global connectivity. The modem is capable of 100Mbps download speed and 50Mbps upload.

The LTE device uses the Altair FourGee-3100 baseband along with FourGee-6200 RFIC chipsets and IPWireless software. When the modem will come to market is unknown.
