Most femtocells are able to cover about 5000 square feet of home or office. If you get into a space that is larger than that, you will have problems with coverage. A company called Roke has a new femtocell dubbed the Wide Area Coverage Femtocell.

The device promises a coverage area of 40km, that is 40,000 times the coverage of the average femtocell. If you aren’t familiar, a femtocell is a device that routes mobile calls across a broadband network rather than a wireless carrier network.

The Roke femtocell is also capable of providing access to uses traveling at up to 120 kph. The only downside to the Roke femtocell is that it only supports 12 users at once.
