Rockchip, who provides the processors for many of the best Chinese tablets, may soon have a 1 GHz chip on the market. MP4 Nation reports that the Rk2818 will allow a 1024x768 resolution and clock in at or around 1 GHz. The Rk2808, by contrast, is around 600 MHz.

The Rk2818 will come with support for Android 2.1 and will be able to upgrade to 2.2. What does this mean for you? A new wave of cheap Android tablets and MIDs with 2.1 instead of 1.5 and a substantial boost to speed.
