I love that I get paid to read about and play with cool gadgets all day, but there is one nasty downside to my job. No matter how nice the gadget is, I have trouble staying excited about it up to the time launch day rolls around. Take the Nexus One; sweet phone, badass hardware, basically everything I've ever wanted in a mobile phone rolled into one slim, sexy package. I was so excited for the January 5 release I could hardly contain my debit card. Then Boy Genius published this rumor from a Chinese tech news site. Apparently Motorola is working on a new Android smartphone, a successor to the Droid, which is no longer the baddest dog in the yard. This new Moto phone is rumored to pack a gargantuan 4.3" screen, HDMI port, 8 MP camera, 1080p video playback, and be only 9.0 MM thick. We've got no details on hardware as of yet. If this thing can handle 1080p, we're probably looking at a processor that's got some oomph to it. Could this be Moto's first Snapdragon phone? With any luck, we'll know soon. More rumors should flow in as soon as this smartphone gets closer to production.
