LaCie Unveils Rugged XtremKey Flash Drive

LaCie has announced a new flash drive that claims to have industrial strength protection for your important data. The new drive is caller the XtremeKey and has up to 64GB of storage inside a rugged shell that LaCie claims to be impenetrable.

The case is made from 2mm thick metal pipe that is sealed with wear resistant threads and a rubber o-ring. The device is water tight to 100 meters and resistant to drops from 5-meters. The case also protects the data from heat and cold.

The case is small at under 3-inches tall and can fit on a key ring. The device has data speeds of up to 30MB/s read and 40Mb/s write. The device will be offered in 8GB to 64GB capacity starting at $49.99.
