Apple has released iOS 4.1 beta to iPhone 4 developers. The iOS 4.1 update is fixing the display issue of signal strength on the iPhone 4. Apple promised that this would fix the antenna issue in a letter published two weeks ago.
MobileCrunch has already installed iOS 4.1 beta and tested the death grip antenna issue. According to their test the issue of touching the antenna at the gap remains.

Of course iOS 4.1 is still beta and not officially released. On the other hand, many said that this cannot be fixed via software. It will be really interesting what Apple has to say tomorrow at the iPhone Press conference.
