In just half a year, more than one million people have downloaded the Yelp app from the Android Market, making it by far one of the fastest-downloaded apps on the store.
Yelp, which is a mobile version of the online Web site counterpart that lets users post reviews for everything from restaurants to doctor's offices, was launched last December on Android, and it already has apps on the iPhone and Blackberry as well.

The online reviewing site says that 2.5 million people are actively using their mobile app every month, across all platforms.

The newest update to the Yelp app gives users location-sharing abilities, letting them not only post Yelp reviews on-the-go but also share that information with other people through social networking sites.

Since that update, Yelp says interest in the app has increased exponentially. With more than 34 million unique monthly viewers, the full Web version of Yelp is one of the hottest online commodities and now it hopes it can cross the bridge into mobile dominance as well.
