Verizon customers are about to have another option for wireless data. Engadget reports that the carrier is about to start offering a much larger 5 GB data plan option. It will go live on August 23rd for $80 on a month-to-month service plan.

The Verizon FiveSpot mobile hotspot is also due soon. This 5 GB CDMA/GSM mobile hotspot will be global-ready and is expected to hit around late August. Between this data plan, hotspot and the rumored November launch of an LTE network, this is shaping up to be a great end-of-year for Big Red.
