HTC Leaves AMOLED Behind

If you want an HTC device with an AMOLED display, you'd better buy it fast. Engadget reports that HTC has just decided to make the switch over to Super LCD as a result of the ongoing supply issues. Samsung is having trouble shipping out enough of the displays to meet non-Galaxy S demand.

Specifically, we know that the HTC Desire and the Nexus One will be moving over to SLCD displays in the immediate future. Expect to see the first units packing those new screens later this summer. Super LCD is said to offer “comparable" display quality to AMOLED with better battery efficiency.

The HTC Incredible will not be losing its AMOLED display. At least, not yet.
