Gear4 has announced a new universal remote control device for the iPhone that allows the smartphone to control multiple devices. It will launch in October and supports the iPod touch and iPad.

The device can control all sorts of devices like TVs, cable boxes, Blu-ray players and more. The maker says it can control anything that has an IR receiver.

The remote control has two parts. A software app is the part that runs on the Apple device and the other part is a Bluetooth device that transmits and receives IR signals. When the UnityRemote launches it will sell for £99.
