Microsoft appears to be stepping up their game in the the tablet market. Fudzilla reports that, in a financial analyst meeting in Seattle, the Microsoft CEO described the quest for an iPad competitor as "job one urgency". He further added that, "As soon as they're ready, they'll be cheating."

Ballmer stated that he had been impressed by the iPad's sales. Apparently, the boys at Redmond were waiting to see if the iPad was a success before they took any risks with a slate of their own. Maybe this means Microsoft will revisit the Courier tablet concept. Probably not, but what is life without a little idle hope?
