Notion Ink's Adam is the most promising iPad competitor yet detailed. However, a series of delays has caused some to doubt that this beautiful piece of techno-wizardry will ever hit stores. Those of you with doubts may feel a little better after hearing the latest Adam news from SlashGear.

After relocating their offices to Bangalore, the Notion Ink team has conducted an Indian "Pooja" ceremony to request blessings from the gods for their future success. They've also announced that the Adam will launch with Android 2.2, but that it will have a quick upgrade path to Android 3.0 "Gingerbread".

Two versions of the Adam will launch. One will pack a traditional LCD display, and the other will sport a Pixel Qi screen, which allows it to switch between E-Ink and LCD at will. Both have a Tegra 2 processor, full HD display capability, HDMI-out, and multitouch. Battery life is expected to exceed even that of the iPad.
