GM recently announced that it's Volt extended range electric vehicle would be selling for $41,000 when it hits the market soon. The Volt will also be available on a lease for $350 per month, which is a much better option for most interested in the vehicle.

GM will only produce a limited amount of Volts in its first year, but plans to increase production significantly by 2012. GM says that it will increase its production capacity for the Volt to 45,000 units in 2012.

That is an increase of 50% compared to the 30,000 unit capacity GM plans to start with. The Volt can drive for 40 miles on electricity alone.
