Logitech has introduced a new portable speaker system for the iPod that is powered by an internal rechargeable battery. The new speaker dock is called the Logitech Rechargeable Speaker S715i.

The battery inside the device is said to be good for eight hours of playback per charge. The speakers are custom tuned 3-inch midrange units, a pair of 0.5" tweeters, and four passive 2" radiators for bass. The speaker system also comes with a travel case.

Other features include a wireless remote for control up to 30 feet from the dock. The dock has no trays and will work with any dockable iPod. The exact ship date for the device is unknown and it will sell for $149.99.
