MORE POWER.

Want to get the maximum possible bang out of your smartphone buck? Overclocking may be the way to go. Sure, it'll dry out your battery like nobody's business, but damn if it isn't worthwhile when you REALLY want that extra boost of power. Normally overclocking is kind of a gigantic pain in the butt, but Droid-Life reports that Android 2.2 has made it easier than ever.

Just root your Droid 1 and download SetCPU from the Android Market. You'll be able to push that 550 MHz processor to 600, 700 or even 800 MHz. That's still a bit shy of the 1 GHz sweet spot, but it is close enough to get another year of comfortable use out of your old workhorse.
