The iPad stole a lot of the thunder and momentum the eReader market had when the Apple tablet finally launched. The iPad can be used as an eReader and has a backlight for reading in the dark. The average eReader lacks a backlight and the reader has to have a light of some sort in low light.

Periscope has been making a line of cases for eReaders for a while that have a built-in reading light. The company has announced the latest version of its Lighted Folio cover that will fit both the new Kindle 2 and the Barnes & Noble Nook.

The new Lighted Folio has the same LED reading light as previous offerings that tucks into the case when not needed for reading in the dark. The light gets power from three AA batteries good for 40 hours of use. The new Lighted Folio is also now available in pink in addition to the black color. Either color will cost $49.95 and is available now.
