A Guinness for Swype.

There can now be little doubt that the Swype keyboard represents the future for touchscreen devices. The developer has made the lofty claim that it can improve typing speed by as much as 20-30%. That is a little easier to believe after this Google News report.

Melissa Thompson, 27, of the U.K. has won the Guinness world record for the fastest typing of a text message. She wrote "the razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human" in just 25.94 seconds. Ms. Thompson accomplished this feat with the aid of a Galaxy S smartphone which, of course, used a SWYPE keyboard.
