"Torture porn" game sequel release date confirmed

Konami, the publisher that took a risk in bringing the mega-gory horror movie franchise to the video game world, has announced a launch date for the game's sequel.

Saw II: Flesh & Blood will be available on the PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 19th. The game's story will be set in the Saw universe somewhere between the Saw and Saw II movies.

A whole new slew of traps and puzzles await players as they avoid death and save human victims.

Surprisingly, there was not a whole lot of controversy surrounding the Saw video game. That's probably because it is associated with a successful movie franchise, unlike previous violent controversies like Manhunt II and of course every Grand Theft Auto.

It's interesting because the level of blood and gore, and torture, in the Saw game is more intense than those other video games. Yet it basically got a free pass just because it's linked to a movie. I guess that makes it okay.
