BlackBerry With Rotating Screen En Route?

Something new from RIM!

A BlackBerry with a very unique style may be on the horizon. GoRumors reports that this new smartphone will have both a numeric keypad AND a QWERTY keyboard. The exact design is hard to explain (but shown in the image above) so I'm just going to call it a T-form smartphone. The designs came out via a patent filing (thanks Go Rumors). Here's what the engineers had to say;

"In a first aspect, a handheld electronic device, such as a smartphone, has a first device member and a second device member that are connected via a connector. The second device member is rotatable about a rotation axis that is canted relative to an axis of the second device member. As a result, when the second device member is rotated between a first position and a second position, its orientation changes. This may facilitate, for example, switching the handheld electronic device between a text entry mode and a telephone mode."

So yeah. This thing will have a keyboard that slides down and around to be a keypad, or vice versa. Hopefully this thing proves to be real and coming out at some point in the not-too-distant future. RIM might have the hit they need with this design.
