Few things are as pleasant as a rumor confirmed.

Earlier in the month an inventory screenshot leaked to Engadget sparked rumors that the Apple iPad would start selling in Target stores. The launch date was given as October 3. Today, Yahoo News reports that Target has confirmed this rumor.

They will sell six models of the iPad. The iPad will benefit from Target's 5% discount for those of you with store credit-cards. Models will start at $499 and include 16, 32 and 64 GB variants, as well as WiFi and WiFi + 3G models. Update: iPad now on Sale at Target.
