Let the fanboy drooling begin

Gamers have long been waiting for the Prince of Persia Trilogy, a compilation of the classic, iconic adventure series, with completely redone graphics in full HD. And now, it seems it'll go a step beyond that, presenting the old-school classics in brilliant 3D.

At least, that's what ShopTo.net, an online UK retailer, says in its product listing. It would be the first time that an old-school video game has been remade in the new stereoscopic 3D standard.

The game was announced earlier this year and will be heading to the PS3 on November 26th. It includes remade versions of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, and Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones.

To date, there has only been one full disc-based PS3 game available in 3D: EyePet, hardly a graphics juggernaut. Gran Turismo 5 will be the most worthy entry when it debuts on November 2nd. The Prince of Persia Trilogy release will also rank high on that list.

The PS3's 3D library won't really hit a fever pitch until well into next year, or possibly even later than that. Game developers are excited about it, yet their approach remains tepid due to a slow adoption of the technology and uncertainty about its future.

Nevertheless, Prince of Persia fans with a 3D TV should be stoked by this news.
