Don't Miss: This How to find Fingerlings in Stock

1.2 GHz processor, anyone?

We've known for a while that Verizon's special R2D2 Droid Edition will launch on September 30. Now BGR has managed to get their grubby little mitts on the hard details of the event. Participating Verizon stores will give away 5 Motorola R2D2 Droid 2s each.

These stores will also have at least some of their employees dressed as Imperial Stormtroopers. There will be video gaming and live DJs in at least some stores as well. Retail outlets should each get about 200 of the special smartphones, which will not be replaced once sold. If you want this phone, you need to get it on launch day.

A tipster has also notified BGR that the R2D2 edition packs a 1.2 GHz CPU. We've heard rumors that the Droid 2 World Edition will pack a 1.2 GHz processor. We've also heard that the Droid 2 will be discontinued and replaced by the world edition. These are all still rumors, but they corroborate each other a little too well for me to advise doubting them. Much.
