Fans of old-school violence will be getting a very welcome addition to their PS3 collections as it appears the previously announced Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection will be available in 3D.

Box art of the game posted on leading French video game website JeuxVideo shows Sony's "3D Compatible Game" logo on the bottom-right of the box.

This comes just after it came to light that the classic Prince of Persia Trilogy will also be in 3D. And of course, Sony previously confirmed a collection of old Sly Cooper games will be remade on the PS3, in 3D.

It looks like it's becoming a new trend. But it will be interesting to see how old, 2D games with subpar graphics by today's standards, will look when they're remade in 3D.

The one problem we've noticed with early 3D games is if there isn't a lot of stuff to pop out, the effect really isn't even worth it. You have to worry that old-school games remade into 3D will not look any better than those movies that are shot in 2D and then "converted" - the effect is worthless.

Regardless, Mortal Kombat in 3D is enticing enough to be very intriguing.
