New lighter 9.7-inch iPad with Camera rumored for 2011.

The rumors about new Apple iPad Tablets are sending mixed signals. Some point to a new iPad still this Fall and some point to Spring 2011. My current expectation is that Apple launches a 7-inch iPad with camera in November with the release of iOS 4.2. AppleInsider reports that Goldman Sachs analysts believe that Apple will release a new 9.7-inch iPad in Spring of 2011.

They also say that a new 7-inch iPad would not launch before a new 9.7-inch iPad. The new 9.7-inch iPad is supposed to be lighter, feature a camera and a mini-USB port. Why Apple would adopt a mini-USB port is unclear. Last week we carried a rumor that said that the 7-inch iPad is a finished product. Another rumor a couple days earlier suggested though that a 7-inch iPad would ship in 2011.

To say that there will be new iPad with cameras in Spring 2011 is the safest bet. By then the current iPad is on the market for a year. Another reason for Apple to actually not release a new iPad this year is that there is just no real competition to expect this Holiday shopping season. All hot iPad alternatives are launching in Spring of 2011 including Android 3.0 Tablets and the new BlackBerry PlayBook.
