Internet Tethering was not expected to be available on the iPad. Now Internet Tethering setup was spotted in the latest beta of iOS 4.2. This type of tethering would allow to share the internet connection on an iPad 3G with other Wi-Fi devices. It would not yet allow an Wi-fi iPad connect via the 3G connection of an iPhone.

I am not sure how many iPad owners would need this type of tethering. I think it is much more important to have tethering on phones. An iPad should be able though to use the 3G connection of an iPhone.

The tethering setup has only been spotted on European iPads. More details on 9to5Mac.

iOS 4.2 is slated to be released in November. It finally will bring iOS 4 features to the iPad. Additionally the new AirPlay feature in conjunction with an Apple TV make this iOS release exciting.
