The limited edition Droid R2-D2 Phone went on sale.

Verizon launched the limited edition R2-D2 Droid phone yesterday. Luke Skywalker has been spotted at a Verizon store doling out $249 after a $100 rebate and signing a 2-year contract for it. You must be a real Star Wars fan or of course Luke Skywalker to by essentially a Droid 2 that can be had for $49.99 on Amazon with new contract.

The R2-D2 phone features a package that look like carbonite, and the phone comes with a Star Wars media dock and stereo headset. The backside of the Star Wars phone features a R2-D2 inspired texture. The R2-D2 Edition includes R2 notification sounds and ringtones, four live wallpapers, an R2-D2 clock widget and "The Best of R2-D2" video with "original Cantina music". It also comes with an exclusive binoculars app.
