Opera heads to Android

If your smartphone runs the Android operating system, you will soon have a new web browser to work with. The browser is a version of Opera Mobile just for the Android OS. Opera is not offering a firm launch date at this time only saying within the next month.

The browser will have some nice features like hardware acceleration for browsing. That means that the browser should run faster and allow the phone to offer some nice features like pinch-to-zoom for any mobile website as well as a better user experience.

The pages the browser display are rendered at the character level and zooming is promised to be fluid and fast. Users will be able to get the browser once it launches directly from Opera or on the Android Market.
