The Parrot AR. Drone is a quadricopter piloted with an iPhone, iPod touch or an iPad that carries two cameras that deliver live video feed onto your iPhone. It is save to say that the AR.Drone is the hottest iPhone accessory on the market, but at $300 (Amazon) it is not affordable for everybody. Meet the Air Hogs Hawk Eye helicopter with built-in video camera. The Air Hogs Hawk Eye sells for only $49.99 on Amazon.

Of course the Hawk Eye is not as sophisticated as the Parrot AR.Drone. For starters you do not get a live video feed. The Hawk Eye records video during a flight mission. You need to connect the Hawk Eye helicopter via USB to a computer to download and watch the video. It would have been nice if Air Hogs would have integrated a Wi-Fi transmitter to watch the video on a computer during flight, but I guess at $60 that is not yet possible.

From a flight performance the Hawk Eye offers steady-fly that keeps the helicopter stabilized automatically in the air. Air Hogs also offers free online video editing software.

The Air Hogs Hawk Eye has been selected by The Toy Insider as one of the 20 hottest toys for the Holidays 2010. More details on Amazon. If money is no issue and you have an iPad or iPhone the AR.Drone is the way to go.
