In Spring of 2011 at latest, we will see a new iPad. There are rumors of a new smaller iPad still coming this year, but maybe Apple will hold off on releasing it because of the stellar sales of the current iPad. One of the new features of the next generation iPad is now almost certain.

The new iPad will have the option to be docked in landscape orientation, making it a little wide-screen TV. Patently Apple has discovered a new Apple patent filing in Europe that confirms earlier iPad patents found in Asia.

The new patent filings again show the docking connector on the side. Of course there are more important features that we would like to know about the new iPad, but it is a start.

Apple is announcing today it's Q4 earnings and for sure also the iPad sales numbers for the quarter. There will be even more Apple news later this week when Apple holds their Back To Mac media event on Wednesday. Get the latest Apple News on our Apple Hub.
