Besides record setting earnings, Apple also unveiled that they already sold 250,000 units of the Apple TV. The Apple TV just started to ship the new Apple TV about 2 weeks ago.

I got a new Apple TV here in Europe. I am not that happy with it as Apple did not enable TV show rentals in Europe yet. You can see the whole catalog, but you only can preview shows. This is also true when logging into the US iTunes store. I hope Apple is going to enable this soon as it renders the Apple TV a lot less valuable. I still look forward though to use AirPlay.

At $99 the Apple TV box is a hot item for the Holiday shopping season. Apple needs though get more content into the iTunes store. The movie rental catalog is still rather thin. For those who have a Netflix account that is less of a problem.

Via MacRumors. The complete Apple Q4 2010 earnings call is available as audio cast on the Apple site.
