First-tier PC Vendors unlikely to start mass shipping of their Tablets this year, says new report.

There will not be that many tablets this Fall that will be competing with the iPad from first-tier PC makers says a new report from Digitimes. We actually already knew that. Android is not really ready for the Tablet yet and several interesting NVIDIA Tegra 2 based Tablets are only announced for Spring 2011.

Digitimes's sources even suggest that PC vendors skip Android GingerBread and directly work on HoneyComb Android Tablets moving the release date of their Tablets even further into 2011. The big wave of iPad alternatives is therefore expected to happen in Q2 of 2011.

As it looks Samsung is the only first-tier manufacturer to take on Apple this fall with a tablet. The Samsung Galaxy Tab is supposed to launch in the US next month.

Apple will have a rather easy game this fall selling the iPad. Apple sold 4.2 million iPads last quarter. I expect them to sell easily over 5 million in the coming quarter.
