Google Street View is about to launch in 20 cities in Germany. There was quite some controversy about it in Germany about it because of privacy concerns. Rumors suggested that several hundred thousand Germans are going to file a request to remove their home from Google Street View. Now Google announced that "only" 244,237 Germans filed a request.

244,237 are about 3% of all house holds in Germany. This does not sound that much, but Google Street View is only launching in 20 cities. So by far not all households in Germany are affected yet. Home owners can still request to be blurred out of Google Street View once the service started.
