Is Chrome OS finally ready?

The Google Chrome OS release is still a mystery, but Digitimes reports today that brand-name vendors will launch Chrome OS notebook in late November. Looking through our archive, Digitimes said that this would happen already a year ago. Self-fulling prophecy? Digitimes goes even further saying that Google plans to release a Google branded Chrome OS notebook or netbook whatever you want to call it. This would be similar to the Nexus One launch.

The Google Chrome OS motebooks are supposed to be based on ARM CPUs and will only be available in quantities of 60,000-70,000 this year. Google Chrome OS is supposed to be only for notebooks and not for Tablets. The whole Chrome OS versus Android OS is still confusing when it comes to tablets and notebooks. We will have to wait and see how this plays out.

If Digitimes is right we will see a Google Chrome OS notebook this month and in December Chrome OS notebook from HP and Acer will hit. Depending on the pricing the new notebook could put pressure on Windows 7 netbooks.
