My guess that Apple would be torpedoing the Windows Phone 7 launch with the iOS 4.2 release did not materialize. Today MacStories reports that a AT&T source revealed to them that Apple will release iOS 4.2 on Friday Nov. 12 at 10 am PST.

Apple would already release the OS X 10.6.5 update tomorrow Nov. 10 along with iTunes 10.1 (10.10.0). It was clear that OS X 10.6.5 is needed for AirPrint and the new iTunes is necessary to use AirPlay with a Mac.

The release schedule sounds plausible. Let's see if it really happens. If it does iPad owners will have a fun weekend playing with the new features of the iOS 4.2. The iPad will gain over a 100 new features with iOS 4.2 according to Apple. Apple has kept iPad owners waiting a long time to get the benefits fo the iOS 4 release.

I am already excited to test AirPlay with my iPhone and the new Apple TV.
