Are you curious about what the next Silent Hill movie will be like? Well, the very first details are beginning to slip out about what to expect when the horror game series makes its return to the big screen.

Michael J. Basset has gotten the directing duties for Silent Hill: Revelations, and is spilling the beans ever so slightly on the project.

"It’s early days, and I’m keeping details of the plot secret for now, but it’s going to be a sequel to the first film whilst trying to remain true to the plot of game 3, and will also work as a stand-alone movie for people who don’t know the series," said Basset in a recent interview.

Basset is taking his job very seriously. He's gone back into the classic Silent Hill game to familiarize himself with the mythos and lore, and taking bits and pieces to make it as interesting as possible.

"Of course, my choices may not please everyone, but the ambition is to give the audience a twisted, intense and terrifying experience, following a really interesting story, anchored by a terrific cast giving great performances," said the director.

Basset claims Silent Hill: Revelations will bring more class into the video game-based movie industry, which he admits is "rarely treated with respect." Of course, many directors have promised similar things and very few have ever succeeded.

Nevertheless, the storylines and genuine creepiness that are always seeped into the Silent Hill franchise pretty much guarantee a new movie will at least be a good, popcorn-worthy horror flick.
