Nice case that adds little bulk

The Luxe Original for the iPhone 4 is a two-piece case that has a metallic façade and a soft touch feel. The case is made for rigid polycarbonate and has a secure locking button. The controls are left open and the case is very slim. You can get the case in multiple colors for $29.99.

I know after dropping my iPhone 3GS and breaking it that I need a case on my iPhone 4 at all times. I also know that I don't want a case that is bulky and ugly either. The Luxe Original I am looking at today is a very cool case and my review unit is black and silver color. You can get the case in all black or black on the bottom with a top half in blue, pink, red, or teal.

The case snaps together with a button on the back that you have to press to release the case. The thing holds very tightly and takes some work to open up. One of the things that I like best about the Luxe Original for the iPhone 4 is that the materials it is made of are very slippery and the case has little bulk. That means it fits in my pocket comfortably and if I need to pull the phone out of my pocket while driving or sitting it is easy to remove without any issues at all.

Some cases with silicon or other materials are hard to remove from a pocket when sitting down because the materials they are made of tend to grip your pockets and fight you. All of the buttons and ports are left uncovered with the Luxe Original on your phone. On my iHome alarm clock dock that doesn’t use the little trays for each device I can dock the iPhone 4 in the Luxe Original case without any issues for charging.

The Luxe Original is priced well at $29.99 making it one of the cheaper cases on the market that looks really good. The only issue I had with the case was a bit of difficulty opening the case up. That is not such a bad thing really, if you can’t open it easily, it's highly unlikely to split open if you drop your phone. The other issue I had was that the opening over the lock button on top is very deep and the edges aren’t beveled. That makes it a bit hard to press the button if you are trying to lock the phone one handed. I would like to see the opening get some beveled edges so the button is easier to reach. Other than that, the Luxe Original is a great case that works and looks very good.

  • Good looking
  • All controls are uncovered
  • Color choices are nice

  • Lock button opening needs beveled edges

The Luxe Original for iPhone 4 is a very nice case that looks good and protects well.
