She's a "Leader in Technology"

Apparently Arianna Huffington, best known for switching from a Republican to a Democrat so she could be in the limelight more, is worthy enough to headline a panel on technology.

Huffington is a polarizing political commentator who has gained a lot of friends on the left and a lot of enemies on the right. It's a calculated risk to put her in a globally important trade show that should be completely divorced from politics.

But she has created one of the leading Democrat news sites on the Web, and this year will feature a whole lot of non-traditional technologies. That is, technology like blogs, social media, and content creation tools.

Huffington will appear on a panel with Netflix CEO Reed Hastings. They'll be talking about how technology influences everyone's daily lives and what has changed over the last year.

"Arianna Huffington has become an extremely influential media executive based on her vision for the news and technology industries and her place at the forefront of new media. She is a dynamic speaker and we are thrilled that she’ll be able to join Reed Hastings and our government guests at the 2011 CES," said Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) CEO Gary Shapiro. The CEA is the group that organizes CES.

So, Huffington will be doing what she loves best - talking - on Friday, January 7 after the festivities of the main show, at 6:30 PM.
