All electric Focus debuts

Ford is playing a big role at CES 2011 this year and the company has used the show to unveil its new Focus EV. The new EV will launch in late 2011 and will have the driving range needed to suit the driving habits of most Americans according to Ford. The top speed of the Focus EV is 84mph.

Ford didn’t offer an official driving range, but says that it will have a MPG equivalent better than the Volt and other EVs on the market. The Volt was rated at 99mpg. The car will have a full entrainment system, sync, and all of the features people expect to find in cars today.

The thing will also interface with a special MyFord Mobile app to give the driver status on their car, how far they can drive, and the charge state and rate of charge for the batteries. Ford has also teamed with Best Buy to offer everyone that buys the Focus EV a 240V charger. The charger can be installed by the Best Buy Geek Squad and will charge the car fully in 3 to four hours.
