Xoom may have a month or more lead on competition

Last week we reported that the Xoom Tablet would be shipping in February. Later word surfaced that it might not be until March that the Xoom landed. DigiTimes reports that word on the street is again that the 10.1-inch Xoom will land sometime in February.

If the tablet hits in February it will have about a month lead on other Android 3.0 tablets. DigiTimes reports that HTC, RIM, Samsung, and LG may end up waiting until after March to launch their Android 3.0 tablets. Acer, Asus, and Toshiba my delay the launch of their tablets until April or May.

That month lead on the other Android 3.0 tablets will be a big deal. The iPad certainly grabbed a lot of the market share it has thanks to being the first to market. DigiTimes says that some of the vendors plan to launch Android 2.3 tablets rather than Android 3.0 offerings to get onto the market earlier.
