Don't Miss: This How to find Fingerlings in Stock

First shipments to hit in late-March.

We'll get our first look at webOS 3.0- and HP / Palm's new TouchPad tablet, in just two short months. According to Digitimes, the slate will start shipping by the end of March. April will be the first full month of availability. This information comes via sources inside of HP's component partners.

HP plans to ship a combined 45-48 million notebooks and tablets in 2011. Total TouchPad sales are estimated at a brisk 4-5 million units. These first few months of sales will be crucial for HP / Palm. The TouchPad needs to distinguish itself from both the iPad, and the crop of Android tablets. And it won't have a whole lot of time to do so.

The TouchPad looked and felt wonderful at MWC 2011. The 4:3 aspect ratio, full 1080p capability and Beats Audio makes for a solid multimedia experience, while webOS itself is better for multitasking than even Android. The hardware- especially that 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, is right where it needs to be and the design is, if not ground-breaking, at least attractive.

HP / Palm have thrown a lot into the TouchPad. We'll see how well it takes off among customers in April.
