Here's an odd duck of a tip. RedmondPie has received an anonymous tip that Apple will debut iPhone OS 4.0 on March 14th. Most of us expected 4.0 to debut at the same event as the iPad. Since that didn't come true, most folks assumed it would wait until the launch of the iPhone 2010. Now it appears Apple may be taking another route.

The fact that March 14th is a Sunday may add a little bit of salt to those rumors. However, Cult of Mac received an identical tip several days earlier. Either someone is carrying out a hoax (and didn't check beforehand what day the 14th is) or two independent sources have both given out the same date. If that's the case, we might really be in for a Sunday release.
