Warning! Your iPad 2 ships in 2 to 3 weeks.

Apple confirmed this week that they will go ahead with the international launch of the iPad 2 tomorrow. Despite extreme availability issues in the United States. There is some easing as the Apple Online Store just revised the estimated shipping dates to 3-4 weeks instead of 4-5 weeks - Hurray! I am located in Germany and I was dealing with Apple online sales in the last two weeks to see about getting an iPad 2 at launch.

In my latest conversation I got an interesting comment. My iPad 2 order might ship in 2 to 3 weeks and not right away. This of course raises suspicion. Does Apple actually only have a small quantity of in-store iPad 2 inventory to be able to say the iPad 2 is launching? Is there actually no online store inventory allocated for Europe? Are European online customers waiting just as long as in the United States? And why not. All iPads come directly from China anyway.

I will be up at 1am tomorrow trying to order an iPad 2 online. Let's see what the shipping estimate will say.

Apple will open the in-store iPad 2 sale tomorrow at 5pm.
