New 3D screens are available now

For a lot of years the only place you could get 3D content was on your computer. You could get dual video cards and special drivers a long time ago and play 3D games if you wanted too. Playing 3D games and viewing 3D content on computers is easier today thanks to all the new 3D tech and the 3D Vision system from NVIDIA.

Acer has unveiled a couple new 3D screens for computer users today including the 27-inch HN274JH and the 23.6-inch HS244HQ. The bigger screen is an especially cool offering with support for NVIDIA 3D vision and support for other 3D input devices like Blu-ray players and the PS3. It has an integrated transmitter for the active 3D glasses and a 100 million:1 contrast ratio. It ships with the 3D Vision glasses. The display also has three HDMI ports with HDCP, a VGA, and a DVI port for connectivity.

The screen measures in at 25.5-inches (W) x 18.4-inches (H) x 7.6-inches (D) and it has a fast refresh rate to handle video games and movies with a high quality image. The screen also uses Acer Adaptive contrast management tech to optimize the contrast and the screen for each scene of the game or movie.

“Acer’s newest 3D displays are a powerful tool for providing fun and visual excitement for years to come. Their compelling benefits include an ultra high level of clarity and 50 percent more power savings than other 3D solutions,” said Dan Oka, senior product marketing manager for peripherals, Acer America. “Setting the standard for premium 3D multimedia, the new Acer 3D displays give the sensation of full immersion in a virtual world, while the contemporary design sports stylish features, convenient touch-sensitive controls and earth-friendly materials.”

The smaller 23.6-inch screen also has an integrated IR emitter for the 3D glasses, but it ships with Acer branded glasses not the NVIDIA 3D vision ones the larger screen uses. It has a 12M:1 contrast ratio and a 2ms response time for fast action in games and movies. It has VGA and dual HDMI ports. The 27-inch screen is selling for $689 and the 23.6-inch screen is $449 and both are available in the USD right now.
