Acer Inconia A100 postponed to Q3

Acer delays 7-inch Honeycomb Tablet originally scheduled for this month.

Acer is currently selling the Iconia A500 10.1 inch Android 3.0 tablet. The 7-inch Iconia A100 was scheduled for a release in May, but according to Digitimes Acer has postponed the launch to Q3 of 2011.

The reason for the delay are supposedly compatibility issues of Honeycomb with 7-inch displays. I could not verify if Android 3.1 is actually resolving this issue. Android 3.1 is already available and Acer could adopt it if it indeed fixes the issues. Maybe Acer has to wait until Ice Cream Sandwich to get full compatibility. 7-inch Android tablets currently on the market use still Android 2.x.

Acer is also rumored to postpone the launch of a 5-inch smartphone dubbed Iconia Smart because of component shortages triggered by the Japanese earthquake.
