I have been waiting for this. Apple is soon to update or maybe even cancel the MacBook.

Back in April I already published a story saying that the MacBook is not recommendable anymore. It became very outdated when the MacBook Air launched. AppleInsider just published a report saying that several retailers are running low on MacBook inventory. This could mean that Apple is also releasing a new MacBook as soon as OS X Lion is available.

Based on the latest rumors we expect the OS X Lion release on Thursday, July 14th.

There have not been any MacBook rumors floating around. Apple could do a range of things with it. Apple could just kill it and have the MacBook Air cover the low-and mid-range. Apple could release a lower priced MacBook with udpated specifications. I could imagine a $799 MacBook that is still HDD based.
