Cheap 8GB iPhone 4 in the Works according to Reuters

New cheap iPhone for Fall becomes more real with Reuters reporting about it.

We are carrying rumors about a new simplified and cheaper iPhone since several months. Today Reuters carries a report that says that Apple will release an 8GB iPhone 4 in the next weeks to win lower-end customers. The 8GB storage will not be enough though to make the iPhone 4 as cheap to go below the $200 price-point (without contract). If Apple really is going full force for the low-end they would need to make more hardware simplifications in the iPhone 4 and also of course make the casing cheaper. We have seen reports where the cheap iPhone 4 would have plastic covers instead of glass. The Reuters report sees Apple attacking Nokia in the emerging markets with the cheap iPhone 4. Let's see how much compromise Apple is really willing to make for a low-end iPhone.

The Reuters story also confirms that there will be a new premium iPhone 5 release this fall. They stick with the prediction that the iPhone 5 is more like an iPhone 4S with larger screen, 8MP camera, better antenna and faster CPU.

August is almost over and we expect Apple to make the highly anticipated iPhone 5 announcement somewhen September. The iPhone 5 and possibly the cheap iPhone 4 are near.
