Sony is ready to play against the Apple in the tablet market. Sony has announced the Tablet S today at the IFA 2011. You can already pre-order the Sony Tablet S on the Sony Store. The 16GB Tablet S sells for $499.99 and the 32GB Tablet S has a $599.99 price-tag. The Tablet S ships on or about September 16.

The Tablet S measures 9.5x6.8x0.3 inches and features a 9.4-inch touch screen with a resolution of 1,280x800px. The back camera has a resolution of 5MP and the front camera captures video with a 0.3MP sensor. Besides the unique folded design the Tablet S features neat things like an IR universal remote. With the powerful NVIDIA Tegra 2 mobile processor inside, Sony Tablet S lets you enjoy the web plus your favorite content and applications on its large, high resolution screen. Weighing 598g (approx.) (Wi-Fi version), its unique asymmetric design conveys a sense of lightness for hours of comfortable use.
