The Kanex AirBlue has a Bluetooth wireless range of 33-feet from your device. The Bluetooth version is 2.1 with EDR and it uses the 2.4GHz ISM band. It will work with any device that uses A2DP stereo Bluetooth. The Kanex AirBlue ships with a 3.5mm to RCA adapter, a 3.5mm to 3.5mm a cable and a mini USB to USB cable for charging. If you have wished your favorite set of earphones was wireless or that you could shoot the music from your smartphone to your home theater wirelessly while you cook dinner, I have the gadget for you. The Kanex AirBlue is a small round disk that hides Bluetooth tech inside that will stream your tunes to any 3.5mm input device or any RCA device into a wireless music system.

The Kanex AirBlue is a very small device and you can use it inside your car as well if you have a 3.5mm aux input. The little device comes out of the box charged and ready to use. It paired to my iPhone 4 very easily. All you need to do is hold down the power button on top of the Kanex AirBlue until the blue LED flashes rapidly.

Put your phone into Bluetooth hunt mode and the phone will find the AirBlue and pair. I didn’t need a PIN with my iPhone 4. Once the device is paired, it will shoot any audio from your phone out to your home theater. That means you can watch a video, play a game on your iPhone, or hear the audio over your speakers or home theater receiver.

It also means if you answer a call while the Kanex AirBlue is active, the audio for the call will go over the speakers too. It has no microphone so you can't use this for hands free calls. I have a new set of headphone that I really like. The problem is if I am cooking or cleaning the house, I don’t like to take my iPhone with me and the headphones are wired. I always lean over and the iPhone slips out of my shirt pocket.

The Kanex AirBlue made those favorite headphones wireless. The best thing about the AirBlue is that if I wasn’t holding the receiver in my hand I would have never known I wasn’t plugged directly into my iPhone. The audio was exactly the same as when I plug directly into the iPhone. If you stray more than 33-feet from the Kanex AirBlue or have a lot of walls between you and the source you can get poor quality or the audio might not play at all.

  • Works very well
  • Simple to use

  • I wish it had a mic for hands free car use

The Kanex AirBlue is a fantastic little device that will make your favorite speakers or headphones into a wireless system.
